Rental Instructions
-
Storage
-
Don’t attempt to move the sauna
-
Keep the firewood in a dry location
-
Keep the sauna door closed when not in use but keep the vents open
2. Turning the sauna on:
-
Fill the burner with as much firewood as possible
-
Add 2-4 firestarters / paper / cardboard / etc.
-
Startup will take approx. 1 hour to get hot – shorter in the summer / potentially longer in the very cold winter months.
3. Using the sauna:
-
Avoid eating a large meal before entering
-
Avoid alcohol or drugs before entering
-
Keep sauna vents open (even in the winter) as this ensures proper air circulation
-
Once the stove gets hot, never touch the sauna rocks
-
Once the fire is going, to add more wood to the burner, use the fire gloves provided as the latch to the burner can get hot
-
If taking your phone in with you, keep it as low to the ground as possible to keep it cooler
-
Wear minimal clothing (toxins from clothing can leech in high heat)
-
If using water to create steam, 2-3 scoops at a time is plenty. Keep your hand back from the steam as it gets hot
-
If using eucalyptus, add approx. 5 drops to the water bucket before splashing onto the rocks
4. Cold plunge:
-
Fill with hose water
-
Norwegian research indicates the benefits of cold plunging can be achieved in water temperatures ranging between 40 & 60 degrees. In the fall / winter / spring, ice is never necessary to get into this temperature. Therefore, only add ice if you really want to.
-
In the winter, ice develops quickly. Please pay attention to this. If you’re using it regularly, no problem. However, if you’re not going to be using it for a few days and it’s very cold, please drain it. If it freezes over, we can’t pick it up.
